Becky Makes a New Friend
The sun was rising over the bay on that clear, cold morning. The beach was empty except for blond-haired woman in the wetsuit and over-sized sunglasses. Becky had carried her kayak to the water’s edge and waded far enough out to get in and paddle to deeper water.
“What a beautiful morning. She thought, as she paddled further from the beach. Becky enjoyed her weekend kayaking excursions. Not a weekend went by where she didn’t see something amazing. The sea lions and whales were her favorites, but she loved all the amazing creatures she saw.
She jumped, then she laughed when the Humpback whale surfaced close enough to touch. It exhaled, showering Becky with cold seawater. “Well hello there” she said with a smile as she reached out to stroke the back of the whale.
Becky was surprised when the whale stayed on the surface and allowed himself to be scratched. “I’m going further out; do you want to come with?” she asked, as she picked up the paddle and started to paddle into deeper water.
As she rowed, the whale dived and surfaced a few feet in front of her, blocking her way. “Come on big guy, why don’t you want me to go further out?” She tried to paddle around the whale, but he wouldn’t have it.
“Okay big guy, you win,” Becky said, as she steered the kayak toward the beach. As Becky maneuvered the kayak…
