Jose Escobar Upsplash.

We started talking on Facebook, we had never met in real life; in fact, we were in different states. I was in Minneapolis, going through a rough time in my life. She was living with family members in South Carolina.

I was staying in a Relatives basement, I came to Minnesota to start a new life, but it wasn’t going well at all. Olivia had sent me a friend request, I always accepted all the request I got, but if people got stupid, I dropped them.

I was working the midnight shift at my security guard job, and I was online right before I went to work. “Can I talk to you?” she asked via Messenger. I I was more than happy to talk to a friendly face.

When I was homeless, we talked off and on, every day. I found out where the library was. I would use their computers to answer my emails and talk on Facebook.

I was hurting, and I was lonely, and she saved my life. I had something to look forward to, and our conversations kept me from going insane.

She started sending me money, we kept talking, and she sent me a cellphone. We had started talking on Halloween, she flew from South Carolina to see me the following March.

I went to Philidelphia and spent Thanksgiving With Olivia and her family. The following February, I flew to South Carolina, and we got married in September.

Takeaways: 1. Enter Racial Relationships can work.

2. Long distance Relationships can also work

3. Love will find a way, if you give it a chance.

All Relationships take work, but it’s worth it.
