my wife and I are fortunate, my family had no issues at all, and whatever issues her family had have gone away once they got to know me. It does get tense at times, I'm a conservative Republican and she's a democrat, but we have learned to talk to each other. Relationships take work, and ours is stronger because we are willing to do the work.
